Know reasons for Lower Back Pain
One of the most common reasons for people visiting a doctor is lower back pain. Most of the adult population suffers from lower back pain at one point in their life. It not only brings people to the doctor each year, but also causes them to miss work and even become disabled.
There are many reasons why people suffer from lower back pain. In most cases, however, the cause of the pain is undetermined. Lower back pain can be the result of a strain, inactivity, physical conditions, being overweight or even depression.
Sciatica is one of the most common of all lower back pain. This is where the pain starts in your lower back then radiates down into your buttocks and legs. It is very painful and the lower back pain is usually very sharp. Relief for sciatica is usually pain medication and rest. The nerves are usually inflamed and take weeks to get back to normal.
If your lower back pain lasts for more than a few weeks, or gets progressively worse, you should see a doctor. Physical causes for lower back pain include arthritis and even some cancers, although this is extremely rare. In some cases, the cause is a herniated disc and can be treated with alternative therapy such as massage and manipulation.
Most causes of lower back pain are not serious. Chronic lower back pain, or pain that continues despite treatment, however, can seriously interfere with your job, school and life.
